With such stunning views of the lagoon, most looked at the water rather than up at the roof. So no one spied Lunis as he watched the grounds of Hotel Laguna Maldita. If anyone glanced up, the blue dragon was smart enough that he'd glamoured himself to look like something ordinary to undiscerning eyes.

The mobsters whom Laura had told Lunis about weren't discerning. They were downright selfish, rude, and loud. From his place on the rooftop, Lunis had watched as the three men bossed the Ward family and the hotel staff around.

The boss, apparently a man by the name of Donte, thought the new waiter was his servant. He yelled at Emmanuel to get him more drinks on a regular basis.

The other two goons weren't bright enough to mastermind any real trouble. However, they were sloppy and created messes everywhere they went. Plus, they were inconsiderate and bullies, two things Lunis couldn’t stand.

The mob guys were part of the problem he was here to fix. However, that wasn’t enough, and the blue dragon knew it. Another piece of the equation was why the mysterious lynx had summoned him. Plato played with big problems, so Lunis needed time to figure out what the lynx intended for him to do.

The night before hadn’t offered the luxurious sleep Lunis had been after. Although Laura had brought him some pillows, blankets, and a nice meal, he’d still slept fretfully. Lunis didn’t think that was because of the balmy temperatures. Dragons liked warm weather. Really, they were fine with any weather.

It wasn’t even the noise from the hotel bar that had been a problem. A strange rumbling underneath the blue dragon kept jerking him away from sleep. He thought it might be old pipes or something, but his intuition told him otherwise.

Something wasn't right about Hotel Laguna Maldita. Lunis’ job was to figure it out. He suspected it would be a lot more complex than he’d bargained for. Although Lunis was up for the challenge, he wasn’t used to working alone and silently wished he had a friend to help him on this case.
